I have just received my 18/100 Mistura just before my morning shave this morning. That made me very happy. I've been impatiently waiting for it since I tried the SOC 2012 SE and loved it, but thought the knot on the SOC SE was way too big for me. The Mistura is perfect in size! I just love this brush. I washed it with shampoo and some shaving soap before the first shave. Also, I followed my now standard procedure for breaking in boar bristles. After the initial wash I shave all the water out of the brush and dry it with a towel. When the brush feels almost dry I work the tips on a rough towel and the back of my lather strop. I do this for a while until the brush is almost fully dry. This procedure usually produces split ends right after first application. Today was no exception with Mistura. It had many split ends for my first shave. The first shave with this brush was wonderful I really enjoyed it. It is every bit as good as SOC SE in a smaller package, which is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for making this brush possible for this forum. I really love it.

Yes, the leather strop for a straight razor. I use the rough side, not the side for stropping straights. Doesn't have to be a strop, you belt can work and I think a towel/napkin with a "waffle" texture or something that's slightly rough. You don't need a lot, just make sure the knot is almost dry or even when it's completely dry, but be more gentle with a completely dry boar bristle.

I was amazed that I could get the bristles to start splitting even before the first shave with this technique. I did this on a few brushes already, but the SOC SE and BC Mistura are the latest two.
