I'd like to say hello to all the members of this great forum, and thank you for allowing me to join with you.

I live in the beautiful city of Melbourne Australia and have been a keen wet shaver for a few years now. Like most of us I started out with Double Edged razors, but was quickly entranced by the beauty of Japanese Kamisoris. I bought a kamisori and the learning process began. Surprisingly little blood was spilled, but I realised quickly that I was on a steep learning path. However within 2-3 months I had mastered the kamisori sufficiently that I could enjoy an excellent shave with it.

From there, it was natural (for me) to explore the wonderful world of straight razors, particularly German and Japanese blades. I still marvel at the craftsmanship of many of these blades, and feel a little sad that it is no longer a skill that is passed down from father to son as in days gone by...

These days I shave with SE razors a lot of the time - I really like the Feather and Kai blades and find that they give me an amazing shave with zero skin irritation. I still use DEs, straights and kamisoris though, and feel very lucky that I have so much freedom of choice.

During my shaving career I have found a number of products that I like more than others - like my friend here "Life's a Peach" I favour Italian and Spanish soaps, French fragrances, vintage Polsilver DE blades and the Japanese "Artist Club" style blades. One area in which I struggled to find satisfaction was shaving brushes. And then Life's a Peach introduced me to Semogue brushes. For me, the world changed on that day - for the first time I used a brush that not only performed brilliantly, but really felt wonderful as well. The brush was a Semogue 2013 Special Edition Silvertip and Olive Wood. All I can say is that this brush is pretty much perfect to me, and I treasure it.

Since that day I have been lucky enough to buy 3 more Semogue brushes including the absolutely wonderful Mistura. I am now totally convinced that Portugal is the heartland of brush making expertise!

I look forward to being a member of this forum. Even though I don't speak Portuguese, I have no doubt that I will learn a lot from your welcoming community. Thank you again!

Semogues are very good, indeed. Do you have any "cerda" (boar) from Semogue? They are brushes full of character, with a great performance for the price.

bonrasoir : if you are interested in the beautiful kamisori, don't wait! You can buy a good beginners blade online for not much money, and there are some excellent instructional videos online too. If you would like to know more, I am very happy to help you 

FML : I have two mixed badger/boar Semogue brushes (2013 Mistura and 2012 Owners Club Special Edition) and I love them both. I don't have a pure boar brush. Is there a particular brush you would recommend above all others?
